World Summit of Legislators equipped with GONSIN system

Prior to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development  (UNCSD, or Rio+20), the World Summit of Legislators convened from 15-17 June 2012 at Palacio Tiradentes in Rio de Janeiro, the original seat of National Congress of Brazil and the current seat of Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro State.

The summit was supported by the United Nations, UNEP, UNDP, World Bank and was hosted by the Government of Brazil, the Congress & Senate of Brazil, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, and GLOBE (Global Legislators Organisation).

Over 300 senior legislators representing 85 countries and the European Union were in attendance, including heads of senates, congresses, parliaments, and chairs of parliamentary committees.

GONSIN DSSS wireless interpretation system was chosen to equip this important event, offering a higher quality listening experience for all participants.

Parliamentarians approved a landmark Rio+20 Legislators’ Protocol containing a number of commitments for parliaments designed to strengthen delivery of the original Rio agenda and Rio+20 commitments.

The Protocol was signed by the heads of the national delegations during a formal presentation to Sha Zukang, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and UNCSD Secretary-General.
